Many critics are already unjustly offering last rites for this series based on the new season's first three episodes, and watching this amazing sophomore year for Alan Ball's morbidly amusing look at a family in the funerary business might make you second-guess the show's decidedly grimmer fourth season. But the comparison is hardly fair, especially as this brilliant series hits its stride here, with hard-to-beat story lines such as the Fisher clan under attack by the corporate corpse machine Kroehner and David's (Michael C. Hall) coming-out process. Amazing actresses Patricia Clarkson and Lili Taylor also join the already top-notch cast. The five-disc DVD set includes a special-effects featurette, filmmaker commentaries and cast and crew bios.
