Alexis Arquette, youngest of the acting Arquette siblings, stars as Bob, a moon-eyed college closet case who can barely disguise his infatuation with cute housemate Brendan (Christian Maelen). But when a clumsy, drunken pass ends badly, Bob abandons his crush, seemingly for good. Fast-forward five years, and Bob is now a successful soap opera writer who's involved with the hunky star of his show. When a school friend gets hitched, he's reunited with all his old college buddies -- including the newly chummy Brendan, who seems to regard the now-unavailable Bob with a newfound longing. Everyone seems to dismiss Bob's concerns about Brendan's flirtations as unrequited college lust, but when Brendan shares his true feelings at the reception and the two end up sharing a sofa bed in the bridal suite (through a completely believable set of coincidences, of course) -- an old flame is rekindled. As everyone parties and consumes just enough booze, libidos are raised and inhibitions lowered. The disastrous possibilities make for great, hilarious comedy. Leave your anxieties, problems and concerns at the door and simply enjoy this 1997 end-of-summer treat from Brian Sloan (director of the charming 1993 short Pool Days, from the Boys Life Collection.) 93 min. Rated R for strong language, adult subject matter, brief nudity.
