Ripley's Game
QQQ
Five years after director Anthony Minghella's lavishly filmed adaptation of one of Patricia Highsmith's novels about chameleonic creep Tom Ripley comes this smaller-scale but handsomely filmed adventure from later in Ripley's life. Matt Damon's young, bisexual sociopath from The Talented Mr. Ripley has grown into an even icier, brilliantly improvisational killer-for-hire, this time played by John Malkovich, who easily steps into Ripley's chilly-yet-charming persona. After being insulted at a party, Ripley cunningly involves his detractor (Dougray Scott) in a murderous game involving assassination, the Russian mafia and a deadly manhunt. The DVD extras include trailer, widescreen format.
