A Night at the Opera
‘Angels in America’
‘Angels in America’
7:30 p.m. | wednesday, june 4 | Tickets at the Door |
Based on Tony Kushner’s Pulitzer Prize-winning play, Angels in America is a moving and astonishing tale of AIDS during the Reagan years. While it gives us a glimpse of the politics and social environment of the time, the raw humanity—at its best and worst—makes Angels a timeless work of art. Produced in conjunction with the citywide festival More Life: The Art & Science of AIDS. Hungarian composer Peter Eotvos premiered the work in Paris in 2004 and this is only the second time the opera has been produced in the U.S., with Fort Worth Opera as the first major professional company to have the American stage premiere. Earlier this month, we screened the entire HBO miniseries of Angels in America with the Fort Worth Opera and the Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth. Tonight’s performance of the opera will be 20 percent off the ticket price for Q Cinema attendees. | ||
