Gacy (2003)

Coming on the heels of the critical success
of Dahmer, this occasionally incoherent look at serial killer John
Wayne Gacy from first-time filmmaker Clive Saunders pales by comparison.
Mark Holton (best remembered as Francis in Pee-wee's Big Adventure)
tries to find the humanity behind the creep responsible for the deaths of
at least 33 young men and boys. But unlike the loner profile of most killers,
Gacy was a popular local figure, even a potential political candidate. Yet
Saunders spends so much time focusing on the stench of decay emanating from
the crawl space beneath Gacy's house that he never gives insight into the
man behind the monster. Gacy's predilection for men is touched on as the
failing point of his marriage and especially in a scene where he tries to
seduce former Abercrombie & Fitch model Charlie Weber with some vintage
gay porn, before trying to add him to the rapidly growing body count. If
interested, you'd be better off seeking out the 1992 TV movie To Catch
a Killer for a more interesting examination of Gacy's misdeeds.
