VIDEO OF THE WEEK
Circuit (2002)
Director: Dirk Shafer
After being "outed,'' a small-town cop moves to West Hollywood, where he's mired in the glittery, muscle-bound, drug-fueled world of underground gay ``circuit parties.'' Directed by Dirk Shafer (Man of the Year), this amateurish feature is so dark and grainy it may as well have been shot on home video. The actors aren't bad, but the story is uneven and occasionally idiotic. One storyline, involving a straight investor's vicious attempt to cash in on a purchased life insurance policy, is particularly odious. For a more accurate look at the circuit lifestyle, check out the engaging documentary When Boys Fly. The DVD includes director commentary; trailer; deleted scenes; widescreen format.
