Raid of the Rainbow Lounge

7 p.m. Thursday, July 16

This locally made documentary premiered in Fort Worth to a 2012 sold-out audience, rave reviews and a media frenzy. The film was the lead story on every news broadcast (ABC, CBS, NBC, CW, FOX) in the DFW Metroplex during the week leading up to the premiere. The momentum has continued with film screenings across the globe. Raid recounts the widely publicized and controversial 2009 police raid of a Fort Worth gay bar that resulted in multiple arrests and serious injuries. The raid occurred on the 40th anniversary of the Stonewall Riots in New York City. The parallels were haunting.

The film, narrated by television icon, Emmy-nominated actress and author, Meredith Baxter, has been well received and even caught the attention of the U.S. State Department, Department of Justice and the Office of the White House.

Director Robert Camina will introduce the film and speak about its journey over the past four years; from the high-profile premiere to its use in colleges nationwide and the Library of Congress. The film continues to far exceed Camina's wildest dreams.

Arrive early for an opportunity to speak one on one with director Robert Camina and be the first to purchase the soon-to- be-released DVD. He will be autographing the DVDs and other memorabilia 30 minutes prior to showtime.

Dir.: Robert L. Camina, 2012, USA, 103 min.
