TEXAS PREMIERE
Boys Shorts
2 p.m. Sunday, June 20, Four Day Weekend Theater,
$10
We're proud to offer not one, but two Texas premieres in our Sunday shorts showcase. David Leddick's The Male Nude is a visually sumptuous documentary based on author Leddick's book tracking how the male nude has been depicted in photography since the late 1820s. The computer-animated The Night Life is aptly described as a "gay, zombie, vampire, film-noir comedy." Drag Queen Heist director J.T. Tepnapa is back with an early effort, the coming-out/coming-of-age love story Sunflowers. Banned in India for it's gay content, Gulabi Aaina (The Pink Mirror) tells the story of a pair of colorful drag queens who compete along with a gay teen for the affections of a handsome hunk. It is envisioned as the first of seven featurettes exploring different aspects of Indian gay subculture. In Hindi with English subtitles.
