Dallas filmmaker Yen Tan, familiar to Q Cinema audiences from his short film Love Stories screened at last year's film festival, continues his preoccupation with themes of loneliness, desperation and unrequited love with this feature centered around three days in the lives of five people born on June 12. A telephone solicitor struggles with his own obesity. A porn star faces the possible deportation of his immigrant lover. An ex-gay religious type grapples with the demons of his repressed sexuality. And Tan mines the misery of these poor souls while rendering their pain with utter believeability. The filmmaker and many of the cast members will be in attendance. Not rated -- R equivalent.
